Working in partnership with Plymouth Food Equality Project to help our customers to access nutritious food

Our Community House in Barne Barton, Plymouth recently hosted a workshop focussing on how customers in Plymouth can access nutritious food.
Plymouth Food Equality Project

Along with Food Plymouth and Timebank South West, our Community House in Barne Barton, Plymouth recently hosted a workshop on Tuesday 24 September, focussing on how our customers in Plymouth access nutritious food. This workshop is part of a number organised by Food Plymouth where the group heard from customers who have experienced affordable food issues and customers were involved in creating new ideas and solutions around this issue. The launch of the project was inspired after Plymouth foodbanks saw an increase in demand for emergency food.

Justine Cheffers, LiveWest Community Connector said; ‘‘We were delighted to host this workshop at the Community House in Barne Barton. It is important that our customers are part of this project as food costs and access to nutritious food are having a direct impact on their lives and their personal budgets are being more and more stretched.’

Lisa Howard from Food Plymouth said; "At the workshop, we used a number of creative methods, such as mapping, collage, and zoning to talk about food insecurity in the area. The aim of the project is to consult communities and individuals with lived experience of food insecurity about possible solutions and to include these views within a Food and Poverty Action Plan for Plymouth, thank you to everyone who participated and shared their views and to LiveWest and Timebank South West for getting everyone to come along."
