LiveWest has secured a land purchase which will pave the way for 28 new homes in Broadway, Somerset.

The six-acre site in Broadway Village, near Ilminster comes with detailed planning permission to provide a mixed-tenure development.

LiveWest has partnered with Higdon Homes Limited to provide 18 open market and 10 affordable homes with works commencing on site.

Charlotte Pillar, our Land Buyer, said: “As the biggest housing association in the South West, we are always on the lookout for new development opportunities in the region and are pleased to have finalised a deal to buy a site in Broadway.

“The acquisition will mark the first partnership with Higdon Homes to develop 28 high-quality homes, including seven affordable rent, three first homes and 18 homes for open market sale in this popular village.

“These homes will help to meet the large demand for new housing in a beautiful rural area in Somerset.”

The homes will be a mix of one to five-bedrooms, designed in stone, brick and render and set within an attractive landscaped setting with a large area of open space provided.

The affordable homes come with a local connection criteria which means local people will live in them. Work on the development has just started and anticipated to be completed late 2026.

James Higdon, Managing Director of Higdon Homes, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working alongside LiveWest to provide these high-quality new homes for a range of customers.

“The design of the homes are sympathetic to the character of the local area and will make a significant contribution to meeting the demand for homes in the area.”
