Once again we have achieved the prestigious SHIFT Gold accreditation for our latest annual environmental assessment with a score of 65.12% - our highest score yet.
SHIFT is the housing sector’s leading sustainability standard which operates an accreditation scheme that rates an organisation’s environmental performance at bronze, silver, gold, or platinum levels.
Recognised by the Government, it assesses housing providers’ performance across more than 20 criteria, including carbon emissions, energy efficiency, water management, waste reduction, and climate change resilience.
This year’s results show a 17.25% improvement since our first SHIFT assessment score of 47.87% in 2021, highlighting the significant progress LiveWest has made in reducing our environmental impact and improving the sustainability of our homes.
Our fifth SHIFT assessment provides valuable insight into how our environmental performance compares to other social housing providers, and we're delighted to be ranked second out of the 40 most recent SHIFT assessments.
The report also outlines how 85% of our homes are rated with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C or above.
We are investing around £50m into our existing homes as part of our Cby28 Programme, which is reducing our carbon footprint and improving the energy efficiency of our homes.
Last year, we completed retrofit improvements in 763 homes, ensuring our homes are warmer and providing customers with more affordable living.
The assessments also reflects the fact that 100% of our new homes delivered last year were EPC B or above.
We continue to divert 100% of office waste from landfill and achieving an average of 94.18% diversion from landfill in our supply chain.
The report also outlines how 100% of our customers have access to energy and water saving tips.

Building on this success, we are focusing our efforts on achieving SHIFT Platinum- the highest standard of environmental excellence in the sector.
