Flexible working
We recognise that our colleagues have other commitments outside their working lives and believe that working arrangements which facilitate a balance between work and home lives are important. Colleagues who have been employed by LiveWest for six months or more are therefore able to request to change their working pattern or the number of hours that they work.

We do not require our colleagues to formally record their working hours, and instead take a flexible approach, trusting colleagues to know when they are required to be in the business and what they need to achieve to ensure business needs are met. This approach supports our colleagues in many ways, including attending any appointments, or collecting dependants from school.

Health and wellbeing benefits
Many of our colleague health and wellbeing benefits are also available to support our colleagues' families.

Our Health Cash plan provided by Simplyhealth includes the option to add up to four children under the age of 24 for free. Colleagues can also add partners at an additional cost.

Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) scheme through Care First is a confidential counselling and advice service available 24/7 to provide practical information, useful resources and guidance where needed, for our colleagues and their families.

Family leave
We recognise that all colleagues and their partners have domestic and family commitments in addition to their work responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that all colleagues can balance their time at work and family commitments both during pregnancy and during any period of family leave. We are proud that our approach to family leave is non-gendered and recognises that not every parent who gives birth identifies as cisgender and/or female.

All of our colleagues are entitled to up to 26 weeks of ordinary maternity leave and up to 26 weeks of additional leave, totally 52 weeks leave, if they are pregnant. Colleagues whose partner is having a baby are entitled to paternity leave if they will or expect to have responsibility for the upbringing of the child as a parent. We also offer shared parental leave, for colleagues who wish to share the entitled 50 weeks maternity or adoption leave.

For colleagues adopting via surrogacy, we offer adoption leave for parent 1 and paternity leave for parent 2, or shared parental leave if they would prefer. Our colleagues can attend all medical appointments with their surrogate. If the surrogate is one of our colleagues, they are entitled to take full maternity leave to recover from the birth and are eligible for maternity pay/maternity allowance.

Colleagues who are responsible for a child are also entitled to 18 weeks’ unpaid parental leave, up to their child's 18th birthday.

Our pregnancy loss paid leave gives colleagues up to 10 days paid leave when they experience a loss of pregnancy. This leave is available for all colleagues, which means both the person who was pregnant, and the partner can take this leave. The loss of a pregnancy can be devastating. We want our colleagues to know that we care and we will support them if ever they experience this tragedy.
