A scammer may try to approach you on your doorstep, by post, over the phone or online. They will often pretend to be someone they’re not, or make misleading offers of services.

Phone scams are a common way for criminals to con people out of money.
What should I do if I receive a call from someone saying they are from LiveWest but I think it might be a scam?

What is a doorstep scam?
Doorstep scams take place when someone comes to your door and tries to trick you to gain access to money or your home.
Doorstep scammers aren't always pushy and persuasive, they may seem polite or friendly. If you're not expecting someone it's important to be vigilant when you answer the door, especially if you live on your own.
How can I protect myself from doorstep scams?
If someone does come to the door and they say they are from LiveWest it's important to remember the following:
- Our colleagues will call you prior to visiting to confirm an appointment.
- You will be able to check our colleagues’ credentials when they arrive, as our team members will wear photo ID. They will be happy to show you their pass if you ask to see it.
- If you are unsure about the reason for a visit, please contact us and our customer service team will be able to confirm any details regarding the visit.
What should I do if I’ve been a victim of a scam?
If you’ve been the victim of a scam don’t be embarrassed to report it. Report the scam to the police who will help track down the scammer.
