Jayne Snape, from Truro, is a winner of our Christmas competition after entering a cheeky matching pyjamas photo taken with her loved ones.
The family photo, entered into our festive competition asking our residents to capture what Christmas means to them, features them all in red Christmas pyjamas with their names on them such as ‘Santa... Loves this Grandma’ and has in it Jayne’s two sons, her daughter-in-law, her grandson and her and her husband.
The family usually spend every Christmas together and Jayne’s daughter-in-law brings matching pyjamas for them to put on in the early evening to play games after tucking into a big roast lunch.
Jayne Snape, 59, said: “It was taken last year when everybody came over, we all put them on that night. We all just got ready for bed, but they didn't stay, but we got ready to slouch and watch the Christmas films at night.
“To be perfectly honest, we were going to go away this year and my grandson, Joel turned around and said ‘Christmas isn't Christmas without my Grandma and Grandad’ because it’s so family orientated for us and that is the family we spend it with.
“I picked this because it's family and everything's to do with family for Christmas. And we all had the pyjamas on, so I just thought this is the ideal Christmas holiday photograph.”
This year the family are all wanting to watch TV Christmas special, Gavin and Stacey’s and are wearing matching green Rudolph pyjamas.
With Grandson Joel,7, going to the effort of making sure everyone brings matching wrapping paper, so it remains a surprise for their Secret Santa exchange.
Jayne added: “It was actually our grandson that said it, let's do Secret Santa. And he wrote all the names out on all the pieces of paper. We’ve got a token present each but do a Secret Santa now because everybody can't afford loads of presents this year.
“But the pyjamas have been our Christmas tradition. It's so funny because everybody's stuffed and nobody wants to wear their outfits because you get dressed up for Christmas Day, don't you? And then they think, ‘oh, what can we do?’ So that's how it started.
“It’s lovely that we’ve won, so thank you. I don’t win anything very often, I don’t seem to be lucky like that. I think everybody should enter this sort of thing because it's nice to send photographs that you only have for yourself. Other people can enjoy them as well.
“It just spreads a bit of Christmas cheer as Christmas is the time we should all try and have a laugh and get together.”
