Lympsham community updated on new affordable homes

As part of our focus on keeping communities up to date with our development plans, it was great to meet the people of Lympsham to outline the affordable homes being developed in the village
Lympsham

We are delighted to have held an information evening for the Lympsham community to discover more about the new affordable homes completing next spring.

The development has been delivered through a successful collaboration between Sedgemoor District Council, Lympsham Parish Council, EG Carter and LiveWest.

This partnership, with the shared ambition of delivering much-needed affordable homes, includes eight homes for rent and shared ownership.

The development is important in giving those with a local connection the opportunity to rent or buy in an area that has not had any affordable housing built for a number of years.

The recent information evening was held at the Lympsham Sports Pavilion.

Gareth Jones, our Director of Development, said: “At LiveWest we are committed to strengthening and supporting rural communities by creating access to high quality affordable housing.

“Partnership and collaborative working are essential in delivering quality affordable homes and this exciting development at Lime Grove has been made possible through the support of Lympsham Parish Council and Sedgemoor District Council.

“The evening was well attended by both local people making enquiries about the rented and the shared ownership units, and by local councillors who were there to support the event.”

With building well underway having started in November 2020, the highly anticipated development will have homes between one, two, three and four-bedrooms.

The development lies a short distance from junction 22 and is close to Weston Super Mare and Burnham-On-Sea.

Duncan Harvey, Housing Development Manager at Sedgemoor District Council, said: “Lympsham is a beautiful place to live and raise a family. Unfortunately, the cost of housing in the village are beyond the reach of increasing numbers of local residents.

“These new homes have been a long time in the making but will offer a lifeline to local people struggling to find a suitable home, in a village where they need to live, at realistic and affordable prices.

“The parish council should be proud that their vision for new homes is now being realised. I would like to applaud the contractor and LiveWest for investing their time and resources to build these much-needed homes.

“As a council, we are committed to supporting rural communities to tackle the shortage of affordable homes.”
