LiveWest customers win two Travis Perkins Managed Services My Community Awards

We are delighted to announce that both projects and individuals that were nominated for two Travis Perkins Managed Services My Community Awards have won not one but two awards.
Mike Parker at the My Community Awards

Michael Parker from Exeter, won the Community Hero Award, and St David’s Neighbourhoods Partnership in Exeter won the Building Safer Communities Award at the Travis Perkins Managed Services My Community Awards.

Michael Parker who won the Community Hero Award was selected as the winner due to the positive contribution he has made to his neighbourhood. His efforts have seen him painting bollards and railings, litter picking, weeding and maintaining communal areas. He also runs his own allotment site and helps with a community polytunnel, which enables people with mobility problems to be able to participate and enjoy gardening. On top of this he regularly volunteers with Age UK in Exeter. His efforts have made his neighbourhood a great place to live and significantly benefitted others.

Mike Parker, LiveWest customer said: ‘’It was a big surprise to win and I did not expect it. It is nice to be recognised for the things I do and be thanked. My LiveWest Community Connector, Lesley Browne’s jolliness is just what I need; with Lesley’s help, we now have compost and water butts in the courtyard. That came about after we talked about what we could to do when there was a drought to keep things going.’’

Lesley Browne, LiveWest Community Connector Lesley Browne: ‘’I nominated Mike Parker for the Community Hero Award because he does a lot of work in the community. He also works with the St David’s Partnership and with Age UK and puts in a lot of time and effort. We have supported Mike and his volunteering efforts here by putting in things like water butts and compost bins to help him dispose of garden waste, and keep plants watered. It was a pleasure to nominate Mike for this award and he is such a deserving winner.’’

The award ceremony took place on Thursday 26 September in Northampton. Click here to read about the full list of award winners.
