We sat down with Jacob O'Callaghan, Apprentice Building Maintenance Operative here at LiveWest to find out a bit more about why he applied.
Jacob said: ''I was already working in the Administration team at LiveWest office but after speaking to a few managers, we discussed the possibility of me changing roles to do something that I had expressed an interest in - going out and working on the tools. With my apprenticeship I was able to transfer across to my new role and start to learn my craft.
''I really like the culture at LiveWest. The environment around the offices is always positive. I found this quite unique compared to other places. They are always there to support you whenever its needed. From the CEO to anyone that is about. If you have a question anybody is willing to help which I thought was good when I started, and it helped me settle in.
''There is a lot of support from management which I have found helpful. They speak to you as a person and not just an employee. They really care about your wellbeing and it’s a friendly place to work.
''I have found being an apprentice great as I can learn while earning. I wouldn’t be able to learn this trade as an adult without the help of an apprenticeship. It can help people of all ages – whether you are an adult or school leaver. An apprenticeship gets you straight into the work, which is a helpful thing. ''
