Bristol City Council has appointed two developers to build 350 homes at Hartcliffe Campus – bringing the major South Bristol housing scheme another step closer.

Back in September 2018, the council secured outline planning permission to pave the way for up to 350 homes, including 30% affordable housing, on the site.

LiveWest and Keepmoat Homes have been announced as the developers for the site. They are currently working up the detailed design of the scheme and will shortly submit a planning application. It is hoped that development will start on site by the end of 2019.

Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol said “I am pleased to see that we have reached the next stage of this project and by doing so we are continuing to address one of our city’s most urgent priorities – building more housing, particularly affordable homes. We want to make Bristol a city where everyone has a safe roof over their heads, and we cannot do that without developments like this.

“South Bristol needs decent housing and this development could help to revitalise the area. We can also expect to see a boost for the local economy. We have consulted closely with the local community throughout this process to make sure we produce a scheme that will complement the area and if all goes to plan, we look forward to work getting underway later this year.”

Bristol City Council ran a series of consultation events relating to the developments from October 2017 to January 2018, to give residents and businesses an opportunity to have their say and find out more information about the project.

Hartcliffe Campus is an allocated brownfield site for housing led development within the Bristol Local Plan. The site is in close proximity to existing retail, leisure and employment facilities.

Russell Baldwinson, LiveWest’s Executive Director of Development said: “We are sure this new scheme will act as a catalyst for the further regeneration of the Hartcliffe area.  Working with Keepmoat Homes and Bristol City Council we have the strength, vision, commitment, and desire to innovate, along with the experience and resources to successfully deliver a great place to live.”

Dan Haines Land and Partnerships Director at Keepmoat Homes said: “As the UK’s leading partnership home builder, we’re delighted to be working with LiveWest on this exciting development in the South West.

“We have a strong track record of delivering new homes across the country, particularly on brownfield land. As such we look forward to bringing our experience to this development and working with all the partners to breathe new life into the area, support the regeneration of South Bristol and build much needed new homes.”

To provide long term protection for wildlife at the site, new habitats are planned within the masterplan for the Hartcliffe Campus development, including a wildlife corridor, a pollinator park, and rooftop habitats.
